New Work

Below are a few pieces I made over the course of the past 2 months. Admittedly, a bit of time has passed since my last post seeing as I have been getting outside a decent amount as well as attending to some pressing life matters. To comment a bit on the subject matter of "shedding", I was trying to capture the nature of bonds formed between people and the degree to which those bonds contain hints of the superficial. Specifically, I was trying to create a deliberate ambiguity as to whether the two figures are merging or separating. In the case of the latter, another layer of ambiguity is apparent regarding whether the standing figure is removing the other character like clothing or painfully peeling him off as if he were a part of her skin. The expression on the woman's face could also be one of relief or pain.

The piece below was the product of going crazy with dimensions and forms and having some fun by attempting to not get to wrapped up in the conceptual basis.

New Painting called "Springtime Solace"

It is a sad truth that, as a result of a general culture of consumption, the amount of beautiful people around, and the general frenzy of everything, a large number of stunning urbanites are lonely and almost incapable of love, for they all just want the next best thing. This becomes most noticeable in Spring. Keep pollenating that field of lonely flowers you restless go getters!

New Painting

This is the product of attempting translate the creation of warped architecture  that comes so easily in drawing to paint. The process has been challenging, but "Paths in Flux" seems to be a step in the right direction. Click here to view a full portfolio.

A painting called "Unseeing Percept" that I completed last month.

Admittedly I have not been as active lately relative to posting material online. However, I have remained busy working on a number of paintings simultaneously that will contribute as members of a group show I'm working on with the magnificent Beth Robinson. So, expect more to come in short order and thank you for taking the time to check out my work!

new painting called "reality doesn't matter when thoughts are pleasant" and higher quality images of "fall mourning"

Below is the product of attempting to teach myself how to paint over the course of the past month alongside higher quality images of the last serious pen and ink piece I created. Due to the seemingly more versatile and powerful nature of paint, I am quite captivated and intend to continue with it for the foreseeable future. The mode in which architecture and angles are rendered, however, feels quite unnatural to me relative to the ease of pen drawn spatial features, and I'm being led more toward compositions emphasizing the figure and organic forms. Regarding the conceptual basis of  "reality doesn't matter when your thoughts are pleasant", modes of escapism, such as drugs, literature, video games, pleasant thoughts, etc., are almost  vilified through the necrotic/decaying quality of the foreground character and his setting contrasted with the expression on his face. The piece will be part of a triptych the second member of which I am currently working on. As always, thanks for the support and don't hesitate to contact me with any inquires.

photographs from visiting Black Agnis

Hi All,

Apologies for the recent inactivity. I have been attempting to gain some paint skills and its turning out to be rather time intensive. Anyways, here are some photos from last weekend's tour of some of the local cemeteries.

Art Hop / Art of Horror

Hello,

I will be displaying a body of work in the S.P.A.C.E Gallery for the Burlington Art Hop this weekend 9/11-9/13, and the pieces will remain up for the remainder of September  and through October and the "Art of Horror". Regarding the latter event, I just finished designing the flier and postcard posted below detailing the night of debauched dark revelry and art set to occur on the first friday of October (10/2) from 4-11pm. Please come and support VT dark artists and help this event reach its full potential to greatly enrich the creative climes of the region and spread merriment!
